In this area we explore the latest knowledge about the functions of the brain and how we can use this knowledge in the teaching practices. We therefore present an overview of the data currently available about the brain structure and functions, with a specific focus on the goals of teaching by outlining how this knowledge can make a difference if successfully integrated in the current curriculum and how it can be used to support the educational process and encourage learning.
The main goal of this unit is to provide a base of knowledge regarding the functions of brain as to:
- - increase the teachers’ awareness of their own functioning in order to more successfully manage the challenges emerging from the teaching practice;
- - increase the teachers’ and educators’ knowledge and understanding of the importance of differentiating teaching methods in response to the child’s current skills and abilities;
- - enhancing the teachers’ ability to design didactic activities and specific learning paths with an inclusive approach toward different learning styles.
